On one of their first dates Brad took Jennie to play tennis and she felt like she was doing pretty well keeping up with him, winning even. Then halfway through the match they took a break and Brad sheepishly asked if he could play with his right hand now. They both had a good laugh and from that point on Jennie was completely smitten.

We now have two kids, Harper and Henry. We love playing sports including soccer, golf, volleyball, pickle ball, mountain biking, boating, and water & alpine skiing. We also love attending musicals and shows, and spending time with family. Harper is a world traveler having been to Hawaii 3 times, Washington DC, Mexico, Boston, and soon to Alaska this fall.

Randy & Claudean (Mower) Cox

Both of us were born in Mt Pleasant, Sanpete, UT. We grew up in Fairview. Since we got married we have lived in Provo while Randy finished his MBA at BYU. After graduation, we moved to West Valley for 5 years, then to Bountiful where we lived in the 4th ward of our stake for 8 years before we moved into our current neighborhood. We have 4 daughters Ashlee, Lindsey, Chelsea, and Whitney, and 1 son Matthew. We have 13 grandchildren and in July we will have our 14th grandchild born to Whitney and her husband Anton.

Randy and I got married right after I graduated from High School and I did not attend college, but Randy got his master’s degree from BYU. Randy has been a financial advisor for 42 years. I have been a stay-at-home mom most of my adult life, but I did work at a drug and alcohol rehab center for 4 years.

Randy loves to golf and enjoys all sports. I love to cook, and to do almost all handwork like crocheting, xstitch, and embroidery along with piecing quilts.

Joe & Janet (Bettilyon)  Crane
image.png

Janet was born in Salt Lake City. At the beginning of the 8th grade, she moved with her family to Buenos Aries, Argentina, where her father and mother served as mission leaders for three years. Upon returning the family moved to Bountiful and she graduated from Bountiful High. After a semester at BYU, she transferred to Ricks College (now BYU-I) with plans to become a school teacher. During that fall semester she met Joe.

Joe grew up on a farm near Burley, Idaho, milking cows and hauling hay. He was awarded an athletic scholarship to play football at Snow College. He played one season and then served a mission in Denmark. He taught Danish at the Language Training Mission for Scandinavian languages at Ricks College. During that fall semester he met Janet.

They married in August of 1975 and transferred to the University of Utah. The next summer we bought Eurail train passes and "back packed" through Europe for 6 weeks. While there we were blessed to witness in the Bern Switzerland temple the sealing of a family that Joe had taught while in Denmark.

Upon Joe's graduation from college with an MBA our family followed employment opportunities moving to Bismarck, North Dakota, Casper, Wyoming, Sacramento, California, Grand Junction, Colorado, back to Casper and finally to Utah.  We have made our home in Bountiful for the past 36 years and have lived in this ward for 22 years.

We have four sons, a daughter and 18 grandchildren. These children and their spouses are our greatest blessing.

When Janet graduated from college in accounting, she took a final exam the day after our fifth child was born. She quickly earned her CPA and eventually retired as CFO of a real estate management firm.

Joe's business career was primarily in marketing and sales working for Fortune 100 and start-up companies. Joe sold his snack food manufacturing and marketing business in 2017 and began teaching marketing and entrepreneurialism at Utah State University.

In 2019, upon Janet's retirement, we were called to serve as missionaries assigned to teach business and accounting classes at Ensign College. We continue to teach at Ensign College as adjunct professors and enjoy the unique opportunity to work with the students there.

Janet enjoys reading, quilting, crochet and being a grandma. Joe enjoys history, "fixin" things and "palling" with the grandkids. He served 6 years as a part time service missionary and tour guide at the Church Museum of History and Art and has led tour groups visiting Church history sites in New York, Ohio, Illinois and Missouri.

We have set foot on seven continents in the past 4 years and look forward to continuing to explore the world together.  We proudly fly flags in our front yard honoring our love and hope for this country and in support of three grandsons serving or soon to serve missions in Chile, Florida and Thailand.

He comes from the house of Comyn in Scotland. They ruled for 100 years until Robert the Bruce wiped them out and now we are mere peasants.

We have moved 22 times in our 26 years of marriage, so the list is lengthy of where we have lived. We will stick to the places the army sent us in our 10 year military career: Texas, Georgia (twice), California, Missouri, and North Carolina. We have been in Bountiful for 9 years which is the longest we have lived anywhere.

Scott graduated from Utah State with a master’s degree in Human Resource Management and has a MBA from the U. He is currently teaching kindergarten. Lori graduated from Weber State University with a degree in Physical Education Teaching and works as an adapted physical education teacher. Keith & Kim (Cannaday) Gulbranson
gulbransen.PNG

Keith and Kim were both born in Salt Lake City at the same hospital just 13 days apart.
Keith being the older one but clearly not the wiser one.

We were high school sweethearts; Kim at East High and Keith at Highland High. We met
on a blind date lined up by Keith’s best friend who was also Kim’s second cousin. It was
love at first sight for Keith but it took a lot of insistence and pleading for Kim to agree.

We both attended college, acquired some knowledge but never did get a degree. Keith
always says he graduated from the school of hard knocks but it took 2 years longer than
it should have.

We married in 1988 and one year later were sealed in the Salt Lake temple to our oldest
daughter Alexandra (aka Alexan, Alex, Al or Ali as she goes by now). We then were
blessed with 6 other children McKenzie, Taylor, Ashlyn, Hayden, and twins Mitchell and
Maxwell who was stillborn.

Keith owns his own business doing landscaping as a landscape contractor. Kim works at
home for the UofU in scheduling.

We have six beautiful grandchildren from 4 years old to 8 months. We had 3 grand
babies born last summer all within a seven-week time frame. So much fun.

We are enjoying life in an empty house for the most part. Our kids lives change
frequently which brings them back to us for a short times as needed.

Pat & Carol Guzman
Guzman.png

Carol’s earliest years were spent in east Millcreek, followed by stops in the Sugarhouse area as well as West Valley City. However, Bountiful has been home for many years.

Born in Brush, Colorado, Pat grew up in the Capitol Hill area of Salt Lake City. Frequent relocation followed and he has lived all around the valley.

They are blessed with three children: Alex, Eric and Bianka. Alex and his wife Rachael have five children whom Carol and Pat love to babysit.

Carol attended the University of Utah with an emphasis on nursing. Naturally, they are avid Ute fans who cheer proudly for their football team. Art brings Carol great joy, especially when painting with her grandchildren. Pat loves all sports, but soccer probably tops the list. He participated not only as a player, but later coached youth for over 25 years, including his sons’ teams.

Everyone around Carol recognize the fun sense of humor she loves to share. She is quick to smile, bringing joy to others through her wit. Pat is a gifted relationship builder, and  considered a friend to many, including those whom he has met through soccer-related activities.

Both Pat and Carol hope to instill in their children and grandchildren the need to be kind. Don’t hurt other’s feelings, nor harshly judge others.

Carol’s ancestors come from Bavaria region of Germany. Pat’s ancestors are from Chihuahua, Mexico.

Mike and Charissa were born and raised in Southeastern Idaho. We grew up just 10 miles from each other but never met until we were in college. Mike grew up in Rigby and I grew up in Iona. We met the summer of Mike’s senior year at BYU and were married the following spring.

Mike graduated from BYU with an electrical engineering degree. Mike also earned an MBA from the University of Utah. I graduated from Ricks College, and also attended BYU. After we were married, we moved to Wausau, Wisconsin and then a year later Mike was transferred to Pleasanton, California. We lived there for several years until Mike had the opportunity to move to the Salt Lake area. Mike has spent his career in technical sales and worked for Cummins Intermountain and Smith Power as the Power Generation Manager. I had a home business doing wedding flowers for many years. I then worked for Zions Bancorporation for 23 years as a Computer Systems Administrator. We have been retired for several years and are enjoying living the good life!

We have four children: Erica, Angela, Jeffery & Michelle and 13 grandchildren. We love spending time with them all!

We have had many memorable experiences during our travels. One of our favorites was a photo safari to South Africa. Mike enjoys photography and has many incredible photos of our travels. He also likes to go target shooting with his buddies. Mike also has a Ham Radio operators license. I love to sew and have made Christmas pajamas for the grandkids for years.

We are grateful we had the opportunity to serve in the California Los Angeles Mission!

We have lived in Bountiful for almost 47 years and have loved every minute!

Ken & Lona Hess
hess.jpg

“Some are royal in name.  Others have royal possessions.  Rare are they who live royal in thought and action and greatness.”  Anonymous

Ken and Lona Hess are royal in family and action and name and thought and goodness!   Sister Hess (Lona) was born in Price and lived in Helper where, as members of the Church, they were in a minority because most of the miners were Catholic! When she was 10, the family moved to Grace, Idaho and then to Bountiful where she attended South Davis Junior High which is now Bountiful Jr. High.  We perceive that she was the darling of everywhere she lived, for once a darling, always a darling!

She attended Bountiful High School and worked at the Dairy Queen on Main Street.   One day a few months before she was graduated, this very tall, handsome and everso strong guy ate at Dairy Queen.  This tall, handsome guy’s friend espied a very cute girl working and decided to set up a blind date.  Wow!  Whatta guy!  Whatta girl! Ken (as in Ken Hess) and Lona hit it off and got married that August!  They were a beautiful pair who had 4 handsome boys and a most beautiful girl!

Lona majored in life as a fantastic Mom, taking all of her athletic children to baseball and softball and church and football and basketball and dance and church and then some church, which led Mark (yes! Our very own Mark Hess!) to a mission in England, Brian a mission to Holland, Mike to South Korea, Heidi to Detroit and David to San Jose.  Wow. What a legacy!   Now they have 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

We might mention that when Lona was 18, her father was killed in a work accident leaving Lona’s mother with 5 children at home, the youngest 13 months!   Lona and Ken spent much time helping raise Lona’s siblings while they were raising their own fantastic children.

And, Sister Hess held nearly every church position possible while being mother and wife and chauffeur of the year!

Lest you think we have forgotten Bro Hess (Ken), he was born in Salt Lake and was famous playing football and baseball and basketball.  If we had 29 pages available, we could start telling you about his great athletic exploits, but he is not a braggart about being one of the best athletes, ever, anywhere, any time.

After a great high school athletic career, he went to Utah State for a quarter, but realized that he loved working, and became a commercial bricklayer which means he was strong and steady and reliable and straight! He served 8 years in the National Guard and built their first home, a beautiful brick home just each of Pace’s Drive-In, and was as handy a man as there could be!

Ken’s great grandfather (and father of 63 children!) was the bishop in Farmington when the first Primary was started and that compassion passed through the years so that for twenty years after they retired, Ken and Lona went on a mission to Armenia; then served on Temple Square; then went on a mission to Perth, Australia; then to Temple Square and finally to Nauvoo where Ken built and repaired and fixed and Lona was a hostess and dancer/singer at night.  It was great!   In all, they served 20 years straight on missions.

They are a royal family!

Norm & Karla (Nielson) Hess
image.png

Karla was raised in Clinton, Utah and her parents, Onzlow and Lousie (Lyman) Nielson grew up in the town of Oak City, close to Delta. Oak City was always a special place for the Nielson’s because my mother and father created a fantastic tradition of annual family reunions. We pretty much lived a ‘free-range’ childhood!

Norm and I met at Weber State College at an LDSSA dance. After 18-months, we were married in the Salt Lake Temple. This year we will celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary! We have three sons, Brian, Steven, and David. They are all married and we have 12-grandchildren. I was a full-time mother, until all the kids were in school. After that, I worked part-time for Tanner Clinic, Union Pacific Railroad, America West Airlines, and thirteen-years at the Woman’s Avenue Center supporting five OBGYN doctors; this was probably my favorite job.

Norm completed his BS degree in Chemistry in 1977 and eventually worked in technical field sales, specializing in water and its industrial applications. He retired from General Electric in 2017 and worked for SUEZ for an additional two years. We submitted our papers in July 2019 and we received our call to the Honolulu Hawaii Mission shortly thereafter. Our mission was one of the highlights of our life. We loved the members, the investigators, and our missionaries in Hawaii.

We love our time with our grandchildren and our sons and daughters-in-law. We love boating and have spent many special days with friends and family on the water. We have traveled to China, Australia, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii. We hope to travel to Europe, Israel, and Egypt someday, if things can ever return to a peaceful state.

She served a mission to Washington DC South, where she met the incredible Elder Hodge.

After she returned home, they reconnected, started dating and got married in May 2001. She currently loves singing with the Tabernacle Choir, home decor and being a grandma.

We both love spending time and vacationing with our two sons and two married daughters and son-in-laws and one grandchild. Lauren & Cayleb and 11-month-old Beau Peck, Bri & Zac, Lincoln who is preparing for his mission to Anchorage, Alaska at the end of July, and Benjamin who will be in 9th grade this year and enjoys playing football,  skateboarding, playing guitar and learning to drive.

We feel truly blessed to live by such wonderful people who love and serve us in so many ways.

Sam and Jan lived most of their lives here in Utah, being one of the first to build their house in our neighborhood. They lived in Georgia Airforce base for 6 months for training. They also lived a 2-year stint in Nebraska for a career broadening assignment for Sam. Sam and Jan have 8 children, 7 are living, their oldest passed away in his mid 50s. Linda Livingston
image.png

Linda Livingston is from a family of 5 girls. My sisters are my best friends. My father was a General in the Air Force and each child was born in a different state. Then we settled in Salt Lake City and I went to Olympus High School where I played on the boys tennis team because they didn't have a girls team. My father and I played in the parent child division at the US Open in New York City. I played tennis for the University of Utah and graduated with a secondary education degree in P.E. and Health.

I lived in the Parleys area in Salt Lake for 36 years where we raised our 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. Some of my children live in the Bountiful area so I bought a condo here in the ward. My daughter and her family, the Shields, are currently living with me.

My greatest treasures are my 10 grandchildren who I love spending time with.

I spend a lot of time at our family cabin at Bear Lake or our condo in St. George. I love to travel and see the world. A few of my favorite trips are an African safari, China, Australia, and the South Pacific. I loved picking up our children from their missions in Russia, Germany, Thailand, and California.

My parents were avid bridge players. After my mom died, I became my dad's bridge partner. We played often while he lived with us the last 2 years of his life.

I look forward to making new friends and I have already felt
welcome in the neighborhood.

Lisa and Doug have two sons, who are both married and live in Northern Utah County, and
ten grandchildren, with whom they spend a lot of time.

Lisa and Doug met on a blind date in Memphis that was arranged by Lisa’s sister while Doug
was a home teacher for Lisa’s sister and her family. Good things happen when you do your
home teaching! Lisa and Doug both enjoy traveling.

Paul & Charlene (Ensign) Moore

Paul and Char were married on July 20, 1983, in the Jordan River Temple. They moved to Southern California and lived in Riverside and Yucaipa for 23 years where they raised their 4 children, Katie, Jessica, Driggs, and Abby. They returned to Utah in 2006 where they bought property and built the home they currently reside in.

Paul was raised in Provo and graduated from Timpview in 1978. He joined the Army Reserves and upon his return attended BYU and worked at the Utah State Mental Hospital as a Psych Aid. (This happened to be the place that Paul and Char met each other when Char did her graduate internship at the hospital). Paul graduated in Psychology from Cal State San Bernardino. He owned the BPS Group- worker comp and vocational rehabilitation company until the family’s return to Utah in 2006. He was employed at the VA hospital where he retired in 2020.

Char grew up in Bountiful (Val Verda area) and graduated from Viewmont in 1977. She attended BYU and received her BA in 1981 and then a dual master’s in social work and Marriage and Family Therapy in 1983. She was employed with LDS Family Services as an LCSW and did adoptions and counseling. In 2009 she opened Oak Glen Preschool and retired in 2022. Char was also privileged to attend BYU Study Abroad to Israel in 1979.

We have 4 wonderful children and 7 adorable grandchildren. Paul has enjoyed pickle ball in his retirement, and Char enjoys gardening and anything with grandchildren. We enjoy camping, boating, and have a large extended family that we love to spend time with.

Dale & Linda (Christensen) Muir
image.png

Dale was born in Logan, UT but lived in Murray most of his life. He and Linda both attended Murray
High but met on a blind date.  When Dale found out they shared the same birthday (he turned 2 the day she was born), he decided she was “the one” since he would never forget her birthday. They married in the Salt Lake Temple and will celebrate their 50th anniversary this September.

Linda was born in Salt Lake City and raised in Murray. They have lived in Murray, Salt Lake City,
Midvale, and Bountiful.  They have 3 sons and are delighted to have 3 daughters-in law, and 11 grandchildren.

Dale got a scholarship to Utah-Tech but knew more than the professor, so he went to work and
received on the job training. He and a friend who was a welder started their business, High-Tech
Quality Manufacturing in 1983. The products they build are used world-wide and cater to the medical
industry.

Linda’s career is being a homemaker and supporting those she loves most. She has worked as a bank teller and a secretary at Mountain Fuel Supply Company.

They enjoy attending Utah Jazz games, boating at Lake Powell with the family, Dale also enjoys fly
fishing and traveling the world. They have traveled to Japan, China, the Mediterranean, Switzerland,
Italy, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand and many places in the U.S.

Linda enjoys traveling but doesn’t like being away from home for very long. She likes to garden and
thinks weeding is therapeutic. She was on “Romper Room” with Miss Julie when she was 5 years old.
She also makes a really good coconut cream pie. They hope to serve a mission together
someday!

Gary & Annette Nelson
image.png

Annette (Rohwer) has always been a stay-at-home gal. She was born and raised in Bountiful. Gary, on
the other hand, can’t be in one place for longer than a couple of hours without going stir-crazy. He
was born in Provo shortly before his dad’s work took them to California, New Jersey, Chicago, and
Texas – all before going away to school and serving a mission in Chile.

Gary and Annette met at BYU, and within a handful of months, were married and living in Texas.
They returned to Utah to finish school at the University of Utah, then went back to Texas after
graduating. As other opportunities arose, they moved back to Utah where Gary began his career in
college publishing. They had 5 fun years in Chicago before returning to Bountiful. Paper publishing
evolved into publishing materials online and Gary and Annette have been able to stay put ever since.

They have four boys that were raised in this ward: Eric, who lives with his family of 6 in Virginia;
Matt, who lives with his family of 4 in Bountiful; Adam, who lives with his family of 6 in Bountiful;
and Mike, who lives with his family of 5 in Nashville.

Annette likes to quilt and track down her ancestors. Her favorite place to be is with family at the
beach. Gary enjoys hiking, reading non-fiction, football, and any kind of activity that includes the
kids and grandkids. Together, they both absolutely love working at the Temple.

Together, their biggest claim to fame is being grandparents to 13 amazing kids. Individually,
Annette’s fast typing and wallpaper removal skills are pretty impressive, and Gary won a Betty
Crocker Scholarship to college (he was probably the only person that applied for it, but that’s
beside the point).

Mark & Marcie Southwick Nelson
image.png

Mark and I were both born and raised in the Salt Lake /Bountiful area. We both attended Bountiful
High School although a few years apart. We met each other when he was leaving for dental school in
Oklahoma and I was college hopping across the state. We were married in 1980 and together lived in
Oklahoma and then moved to Portland Oregon for Pedonistry school. After graduation we moved
back and settled in Bountiful.

We have 5 children. Three are married and live in Utah. We currently have seven grandchildren and
are hoping for more someday.

We have loved to travel over the years and have visited over seventy countries. We are currently
trying to visit all the national parks and are really enjoying the road trips through the country.
We both enjoy playing pickleball. Mark loves to golf and can build or fix about anything around the
house and yard. I enjoy being a homemaker minus the meal making. I also enjoy listening to podcasts and books.

Mark’s claim to fame may be when he landed a plane on the highway in Arizona. Ask him or daughter Kate about it sometime.

Derek & Bonnie Newman
image.png

Derek was born and raised in Bountiful. He grew up in the house behind Bountiful Bowl and
graduated from Viewmont High School. Bonnie was born and raised in West Bountiful, her maiden
name is Brown. She also graduated from Viewmont High although didn’t know Derek in high school
as he’s four years older. However, she did go to school with his brother who was her age.

Derek graduated from Weber State University with a degree in Elementary Education although spent
most of his career making video games working for Disney. After 20 years as a video game designer,
he made a change into project management where he currently works for bioMerieux.  Bonnie graduated from USU with a degree in Finance. Although she started working for First Security Bank in their investment management division, through various acquisitions and divestitures over the years, she also worked for Wells Fargo Asset Management and now Allspring Global Investments as a portfolio manager and portfolio specialist.

They met in a young adult ward where Lowell Leishman, a former 5th ward member, was their
bishop.

Derek and Bonnie have two sons, Davis and Luke. Their boys were both married in 2021, four
months apart, so they became empty nesters overnight. Davis and his wife Ashely are expecting their first child making Derek and Bonnie first time grandparents this coming February.

Derek served in the Korea Seoul mission where he learned to like squid and other strange seafood. He spent many years in scouting and was awarded the Silver Beaver. Derek’s claim to fame is that he
WAS the front row at a Kenny Loggins concert—not on the front row, he was the front row. They
both enjoy spending time with family and friends at their cabin in the Uintas.

Jon & Shirley O' Dell

Shirley was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and has lived all over the country. Jon is a Utah kid with a long line of Mormon Pioneer heritage. He was born in Ogden, Utah.

Jon and Shirley met while going to school at Weber State College (now University).

After college Jon played AAA baseball for the New York Mets in
Jacksonville, Florida, and was the recipient of the minor league Silver Glove Award for his outstanding year as an outfielder.

Shirley was a flight attendant for what is now Delta Airlines in the days when they were called 'Stewardesses" a prestigious and coveted career for a woman in the 60's. (There were age and weight restrictions in the beginning of the jet age, and no men allowed.)

They have been married for 57 years and have lived on the corner of Chokecherry and Bluebell for the past 43 years.

Jon coached basketball and baseball at Bountiful High School, where he had the pleasure of coaching David Beck, Mark Nelson and Ted Tueller among others. After coaching Jon became a sales rep for Procter and Gamble, then a district manager for Johnson & Johnson, followed by 23 years as a
divisional manager for Pfizer.

Jon and Shirley are parents to three children: Matt (deceased 2020), Bryn (Deceased 2008) and Jeff. They have 10 grandchildren and are also great-grandparents.

Jon and Shirley have played a lot of competitive tennis over the years. They had the opportunity to play mixed doubles at the US Open, and individually they have played in numerous regional and national tournaments.

Jon has also played competitive men's softball, and that has also taken him all over the country.

Over the years Jon has had the opportunity to teach and coach the youth in various Church callings. One of his fondest memories is taking the priest's basketball team to regionals.

In 1996 Jon was inducted into the Weber State University Sports Hall of Fame and In 2023 was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame as a basketball official.

They are an amazing family who has always opened their hearts and home to their children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. They affectionately refer to their home as the Odell Hotel.

Craig and Becky Parry
Parry.png

Craig and Becky Davis Parry were married in 1989, an arranged marriage by their fathers who
had known each other since high school. Becky brought a car, a computer, and a college degree (BYU, business) to the marriage. Craig brought $17.25.

After Craig graduated from BYU with a degree in international business, they moved to Boston where Craig attended Harvard Law School and their first two sons, Evan and Jake, were born.

Taking a year leave of absence from school, Craig, Becky, and Evan moved to Tokyo where Craig worked for an international law firm. Craig speaks Japanese from his mission to Nagoya, Japan. Becky learned enough Japanese to say, “I prefer cooked to raw.” Following law school graduation and a one-year federal court clerkship, the family returned to Utah, where Caroline, Sam, and Isaac were born.

Although Craig grew up with a love of tennis, once playing Andre Agassi to a close loss, their
children preferred bats and footballs to racquets. Date night for Craig and Becky for 20 years
was a child’s baseball or football game – or free tickets for Craig and the kids to a Jazz game
when Becky worked as one of two official scorekeepers for the Jazz for 10+ years.

The family has always loved travel. When the kids were living at home, family trips included
watching games in all 30 major league baseball stadiums, as well as to All-Star and World Series games. Craig and Becky have visited 49 states and almost 70 countries on vacation and work-related travel. And in any state or foreign country, if Becky is within striking distance of a temple, you will find her worshipping there (but still in time to make the first pitch).

They have four grandchildren under the age of six and look forward to many more grandchildren and date nights at the ballpark.

Ralph & Annette (DaBell) Pond
image.png

Annette was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but was raised in Bountiful, Utah. She only lived in one other home in Bountiful before moving to the house she was raised in from age 3 on. She attended 3 different Elementary schools in Bountiful, attended South Davis Jr. High, Woods Cross HS (when it opened, only 9th and 10th grades attended) and then Bountiful High. She graduated from BYU with a degree in English and History Education. She was a stay at home mom, but when the girls were raised, she taught English to 5th and 6th graders at Utah Online School for 10 years.

Ralph was born in Gooding, Idaho. He was the 6th of 9 children. His dad was a dairy farmer, but at the age of 3 their family moved to Bountiful. His father worked for the South Davis Water District when he became a plumber. Ralph attended Adelaide Elementary, South Davis Jr. High, Woods Cross HS and Viewmont where he graduated.

Ralph and Annette met while in 9th grade at WX. They were boyfriend/girlfriend at age 15, but couldn’t date. Ralph used to ride his bike to Annette’s house. Her dad didn’t like him much at the time. Being the only girl, her dad was very protective!

After HS, Ralph went to Ricks College in Idaho where he played football. He blew out his knee during the final game of the season, thus ending his football dreams. Ralph served a mission in the California Sacramento Mission. When he returned they could finally date for real! Now her dad really liked him. Ralph spent time at LDS Business College, studying accounting, Trade Tech at SLCC learning to be a plumber like his dad, and then University of Utah for more accounting. Ralph worked for his dad at Pond’s Plumbing before buying him out and continuing on with and without his brothers.

They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in April of 1980. We have 5 daughters, Michelle, Kimberly, Jennifer, Heather and Nicole and 19 grandchildren. At present, all of our children live in Utah.

Ralph’s passion is golf. Together, we love to golf, boat and work in as much Pickleball as possible. We love to travel when we can and have been to China, Samoa, Brazil, England, Spain, Costa Rico, Turkey, Greece, Australia and New Zealand to name a few.

Sam & Sarah Kelley Poulton
Polton.jpg

Eat your heart out you Pizza Chefs—One of Sam’s hobbies is making exceptional Neapolitan pizza! He uses Buffalo  mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes in the marinara sauce, just the right basil and plenty of olive oil. He has a home pizza oven that bakes at 950 degrees, just what the Neapolitan style requires.

And eat your heart out you Green Thumbers—Sarah is a professional horticulturist who studied Land Management and Conservation at the U, specializes in ornamental landscape, apprenticed at the gardens in West Jordan and is currently employed as a horticulturist for a Lehi business.

The talented pair also share an athletic passion—they both play soccer in a Salt Lake City Rec League. Sarah modestly says she follows Sam’s lead on the soccer pitch although her athleticism speaks for itself.

Sam enjoys basketball, too. You can stop by and chat while he shoots baskets and plays pick up ball on the Ridgewood court.

Sarah and Sam met at the U. Sam now has two degrees from the school, most recently his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Sam works at Edwards Life Sciences in Draper. Sam helps the firm design and build cardiovascular valves, catheters, and other heart and life preserving medical devices.

Sarah is a Utah girl; she grew up in Draper. Her family name, Kelley, correctly indicates her Irish heritage; She retains the Kelley family name. In addition to her Irish heritage, Sarah is very proud of her Choctaw heritage. Sarah’s grandfather
was a proud Choctaw. His mother lived on the Choctaw reservation in Oklahoma.

Sam is a Utah boy, growing up nearby in Bountiful. He has also lived in Charlotte, N.C., and in Argentina—both locations as an LDS missionary. Sam has also lived in Northern Virginia, where he served a coveted NASA internship in Aerospace Engineering.

Sarah and Sam both enjoy traveling. Day-to-day, they enjoy their adorable puppy, Blue, a Maltese Poodle mix.

What do the next, say, five years hold for Sarah and Sam? Of course, they look forward to owning their own home—not that the current market and interest rates are making that any easier. And children may be in the offing, too…. Those kids would enliven the world as Sam and Sarah do now.

Taylor (28) who is married to Brady Egan. Brynlie (23)who was just recently married to Manny Benitez. Donovan has a daughter, Madysen (21) who is working and currently living with us. Louise Rose
Louise Rose.jpg

Louise lives in an attached apartment to her son’s (Donovan Rose) home. She has four daughters with Donovan being born smack in the middle of four sisters. She enjoys living near family and said that Donovan and his wife Andrea are very good to her.

Louise was born with her twin sister in San Francisco and was raised with three other sisters primarily in Stockton. She has lived in Tracy, Sacramento, and Fresno, California. But it was in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon where she raised her five children. Having good relationships with all of her 13 grandchildren, and children is something she values highly and is very grateful for.

Louise became a dog groomer apprentice and continued grooming dogs for 25 years. But interestingly enough, today she is a proud cat owner. Later, Louise became the manager of JoAnn Fabrics in Oregon as she finished raising her children.

A favorite pastime of Louise is knitting. She meets every Thursday with two of her sisters to knit and visit together. She is accomplished at machine embroidery. She has a special machine that she uses to make personalized Temple bags for people and she can put most any temple on any bag as well as personalize it with their name. If you need a wedding gift for a missionary or bride or groom, she is your gal.

Her advice to herself and her grandchildren is, “Be patient. You can’t rush life. Just take it a day at a time.”

David & Tiffany Smith
image.png

David L. Smith was born and raised in Bountiful and is one of seven siblings. Tiffany Mix Smith was born in St. Louis, MO and raised in Rexburg, ID as one of seven siblings as well.

Dave attended BYU and Weber State (from which he graduated) and Tiffany attended Utah State. Both served missions. Dave served in the California Anaheim Mission, Spanish speaking and Tiffany served in Croatia, Serbia, and Slovenia and with each country speaking a different language, she did her best to just communicate. They joke that their missions covered the spectrum with Dave going to Disneyland and Tiffany to the war.

After graduating in Communications and Journalism from Utah State, Tiffany lived in Arlington, VA, and worked for CNN. She then moved to Gilbert, AZ and obtained her master’s degree from Arizona State. She then moved to Utah to coordinate the Governor’s Olympic Music and Education Program and later the state’s Baby Your Baby program.

Meanwhile, Dave had been working several years for Penna Powers, an advertising and public relations firm in Salt Lake, and had been a single dad with three kids (Josh, Lindsay, and Baylee).
Dave’s work ethic, strategic thinking, and attention to detail has helped him at work but also helped him master the skill of doing ponytails and making macaroni and cheese. It was at this time that they were lined up by work colleagues.

Twenty years later, they have added three more kids (Mary, Jake and Briant) to their family as well as three in-laws (McKell Molyneaux, Jordan Jensen, and Matt St. John) and four grandchildren (Callaway, Blake, Kaysen, and Amelia) with one on the way.

You can find Dave most mornings, even during the winter, running on the boulevard. He loves officiating boys’ high school and college basketball, coaching soccer, BYU football, boating, and apparently orange Jeeps.

Tiffany loves people, the violin, musicals, family history, the temple, and loves to learn and try new things (thanks YouTube how-to videos). She is handy with tools and fixing things and enjoys being outside. They make a great team and enjoy doing projects together.

Tiffany’s claim to fame is being an on-stage backup singer to Barry Manilow when he performed in Salt Lake City. Dave’s claim to fame is being married to Tiffany and having the same first and last name as millions of other people (including our new stake presidency counselor). He has had basketball games he’s officiated broadcast live on ESPN.

David was born in Evreux, France while his Father was serving in the US Air Force there. He grew up in New Mexico, California, England, with short stints in Arizona and Las Vegas, while his Father was trained to fly the F4 Phantom in combat. He lived in Salt Lake City for a year while his Father was stationed at Ubon, Thailand during the Vietnam War. When his Father
retired, David’s family moved to Salt Lake City where his Father and Mother were from. In 1987 he moved to Las Vegas where he worked as a Lighting Design Assistant.

Hazel was born and raised in Las Vegas, and that is where she met David at a Young Adult Dance just a couple of days after returning from her Madrid, Spain Mission. They spent the first 17 years of their marriage in Las Vegas before David took a job in California. They lived in California in multiple places for almost 9 years before they moved to Utah.

They have 5 children (4-daughters and a son), and 4-grandchildren. Their two youngest children, Devan and Mikayli still live at home. Devan Michael is named after 7-Time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher. Devan builds and installs custom cabinets, and works the Stage Crew for the Christmas Production, “Savior of the World”. Mikayli Abrial is named after
Michele Alboreto who drove for Ferrari. Mikayli is in her last year of college at Weber State University, scheduled to graduate in April 2024.

David has spent most of his career doing Architectural Lighting Design, working many years in Las Vegas designing lighting for Hotels and Casinos all over the world. He is very grateful now to design lighting for Temples all over the world.

Hazel studied Photography and worked in photography studios and a camera store doing custom enlarging. She also did freelance photography. When an opportunity opened up, she started working full- time for Deseret Book.

As a family they enjoy cycling, watching Formula 1 - and are huge Tifosi (fans of The Scuderia Ferrari) - and just spending time together as a family. Mikayli was once asked what her favorite memories are - she replied “moving!” Not that moving is much fun, but because of the time they spent together as a family.

David’s ancestors are primarily from England with some also from Germany. Hazel’s ancestors are from Denmark, Sweden, and England.

She escaped after scalping 10 of her captors.  Sandee is related to Jenny Bennett who ran the famous Clinton Bakery in town.

I attended BYU where I majored in interior design, was married in the Jordan River Temple and went on to work full time for BYU in the CES (church educational system) department for several years.

Upon returning to the United States, a great job opportunity brought us to Centerville, UT. Years later I was lucky enough to land in the Mueller Park 5th Ward here in Bountiful after going through a divorce.

I am blessed to have 4 great kids. CJ (28), Kenna (24), Carson (22) & Jace (17). We just celebrated Kenna’s wedding and are happy to welcome her husband Jake into our family as well.

I’ve always worked in some aspect of design my whole life and am currently the corporate merchandiser/designer for a company called Hip & Humble. I love traveling to different states and designing new stores as we grow and expand. I love my calling as a YW leader, will never turn down a Dr. Pepper, still hold out hope I can be a contestant on Survivor one day, will always be a Harry Styles fan, and love a good podcast.
